A leading international energy trading business is seeking an experienced European Gas and Power Scheduler to join its London team.

Working closely with traders and operational teams, the successful candidate will play an important role in managing the physical scheduling of European power and gas positions. The role covers the full nomination process, position reconciliation, interaction with TSOs and market operators, and supporting the business through market changes and new market implementation.

This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced trading environment, where accuracy, strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively to strict market deadlines are essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage daily balancing and nomination processes across a range of European power markets, ensuring activity is completed accurately and within market deadlines.
  • Work closely with trading teams to reconcile positions and ensure physical nominations accurately reflect traded volumes ahead of gate closure.
  • Liaise directly with TSOs, counterparties and market operators to investigate and resolve rejected, unmatched or amended nominations.
  • Support the implementation and configuration of new European power markets, products and scheduling processes.
  • Manage nominations relating to interconnector transmission rights, including monitoring capacity auction results, transfers and the impact of curtailments.
  • Support the reconciliation of trading activity and assist with queries relating to imbalance, settlement and other operational matters.
  • Produce ad hoc analysis and operational reporting, identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and efficiency.
  • Contribute to change initiatives arising from regulatory or market developments and support the onboarding of new markets where required.
  • Provide operational scheduling support across European gas positions, including nominations, confirmations and the investigation and resolution of exceptions.

REQUIRMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in a numerate or technical subject such as Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Economics or a similar discipline. Other academic backgrounds will be considered where there is strong evidence of quantitative ability.
  • Experience within Gas and / or Power scheduling
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work closely with traders, operations teams, counterparties and market operators.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively when working against tight deadlines.
  • SQL, Python or Power BI experience would be beneficial, particularly where used for reconciliation, reporting or automation.
  • Additional European language skills would be advantageous.
  • A proactive and resilient approach, with the ability to operate effectively within a high-pressure trading environment.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard office hours when required, including participation in an occasional weekend rota.
