Our client is an International Oil Trader currently seeking a disciplined and detail-oriented Shipping Operator to join their team. This position is responsible for managing daily shipping operations from the vessel going "on subs" until the shipment is fully completed. The successful candidate will provide prompt operational support and monitor all shipments under the company’s charter.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Voyage Execution: Ensure smooth and timely operations regarding vessel clearance and stowage plan preparation in accordance with trading/charterer requirements, terminal/port regulations, and internal safety standards.
  • Operational Documentation: Manage itinerary updates, voyage order distribution, shipment status updates, e-filing, and freight payment.
  • Time Charter Fleet Management: Handle bunker supply arrangements, review and settle port disbursements, and follow charterers’ requirements on a per-voyage basis.
  • Financial Administration: Perform operational cost calculations, e-filing, freight billing, and collection.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all Charter Party (CP) terms, company policies, and compliance rules are strictly adhered to.
  • Liaison & Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders (owners, charterers, brokers, agents, P&I clubs) and internal departments (cargo operations, vetting, legal, finance) to ensure seamless communication.

JOB SUMMARY & DAILY TASKS

  • Issue Resolution: Respond promptly to queries, disputes, or incidents arising during the voyage, coordinating with all parties until resolved.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update various chartering and operational databases on a daily basis.
  • Systems & Reporting: Keep company systems updated with contract details and cost accruals in accordance with the Charter Party; assist in preparing weekly, monthly, and yearly management reports.
  • Counterparty Registration: Prepare registration documents to ensure all counterparties are registered timely and in compliance with company rules.
  • Mentorship: (For experienced candidates) Assist the Shipping Operations Manager in the development of junior Shipping Operators.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education & Experience: Graduate in Marine/Shipping or prior experience in shipping operations and demurrage within the Oil, LNG, or LPG tanker industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of shipping operations specifically within the oil or tanker sectors.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong numerical ability and high attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Efficiency: Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and take a proactive approach to task management.
  • Planning: Proven ability in forward planning and the optimization of tanker voyage handling.
