Our client is a marketing and trading business supporting global energy operations. They are involved in equity production marketing, third-party trading, shipping, storage, and derivatives. The organisation operates across global time zones and continues to grow its European customer base across a range of energy products.
Due to continued expansion, we are seeking a Trading Analyst to assist the Traders in managing the logistics of a deal to the best commercial advantage whilst ensuring all contractual and compliance obligations are met, acting as an alternative operational interface with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the traders requests are well met.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting physical / paper Traders. Assisting traders during executing trades by draft recap, monitoring positions exposure, and necessary communication with operation personnel on behalf of trader.
- To Support market research. To provide support for trading analysis and commence relevant research on physical and derivative markets, providing necessary assistance under trader’s instruction.
- To consolidate Trading records. Collecting/Analysing/Recording/Reporting the trading data under the instruction from trading and line manager.
- Supporting and managing the trading system input, maintain accurate records of trades, positions, and trading system for compliance and reporting purposes. Be able to use relevant trading/approving platform.
- Support to Risk Management. To assist in monitoring and managing risk exposure by implementing risk controls and monitoring trading limits and necessary communication with risk control.
- Communicate effectively with traders, brokers, and other team members to ensure smooth trade execution and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Other tasks which trader/line manager/Senior management request to help.
EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or degree level qualification in Marketing, Logistics, Petrochemical or other related subjects
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- High sensitivity to the crude oil and petroleum products market
- Well-developed listening skills and collaborative instincts and excellent skills in communicating, negotiating, networking and influencing internally and externally
- Knowledge of the following oil and gas commercial agreements preferable: Joint Operating Agreements, Construction & Tie-in Agreements, Transportation & Processing Agreements, Allocation Agreements,
- Commercial awareness/instincts to ensure rational economic results of operational alternatives
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to prioritise and organise work and work to deadlines
- Numerate and computer literate
- Basic knowledge in Operations, Risk control, Trade Finance, Cargo Operation and Shipping market
- Basic to advanced knowledge in MS Office Platts, ICIS and Thomson Reuters etc.
