Job Purpose
Supervises, assigns, reviews and participates in the work of staff responsible for performing professional and technical engineering services. Ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and performs more technical and complex tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Scoping and preparing fee proposals
- Assisting with business development activity to further enhance, grow and diversify the civil engineering capabilities within the organisation
- Oversee and develop appropriate technical solutions / reports from concept through to implementation stage
- Conduct site inspections / reviews and analyse data (maps, reports, tests, drawings and other)
- Assess potential risks, material and cost
- Provide advice and resolve creatively and emerging problems / deficiencies
- Monitor progress and compile project status reports
- Manage budgets
- Engaging with and managing the needs of clients and fellow professionals
- Working closely with key stakeholders to deliver solutions which exceed client expectations
- Attending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs
- Managing all deliverables to ensure client satisfaction and commercial and technical project success
- Maintaining high technical standards consistent with the project brief
- Ensuring all projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective way
- Identifying key learning points and communicating these across the group and/or the wider business
- Managing project team to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budget
- Manage all technical aspects of the team’s project work to ensure they are undertaken in accordance with the Company Management System and Health and Safety Procedures
- Being innovative in changing designs through a knowledge of engineering
- Supporting other senior management within the business with technical development
- Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior members of the team
- Representing Richard Jackson Ltd externally at conferences and seminars promoting the vision and values of the Company

Person Specification
Knowledge / Experience / Qualifications
- Proven work experience within the field of engineering
- Degree in engineering or similar
- Excellent knowledge of design and visualisation software such as required
- Ability to develop new and existing client relationships as well business development skills to generate new work streams
- Project management and supervision skills
- In-depth knowledge of engineering procedures and standards
- Good awareness of engineering and building design beyond own discipline
- Able to design and deliver engineering solutions on major and/or complex projects
- Strategic thinker with proven experience of developing and implementing creative and successful solutions
- Excellent programme management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects
- Expert in providing project management guidance and direction on multi-disciplinary projects
- Able to understand the balance of engineering priorities on differing projects
- Able to motivate individuals to work collaboratively as a team
- Excellent people management skills and experience of managing staff at all levels
- Encouraging others to deliver elegant, practical and safe engineering solutions
- Able to quickly develop successful client relationships and internal relationships
