The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on individual to join the Calibration Team within the Test Department. This role offers a blend of practical and computer-based tasks to implement quality assured test facilities for development and certification purposes. Ricardo is an ISO 9001 company and prides itself in quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Calibration of measurement equipment and instruments including temperature, pressure, voltage, current, humidity, mass/force, flow and frequency disciplines.
- Upkeep of asset management databases (Currently Indysoft) to include location, calibration data and equipment history.
- Work both in the Calibration lab and in test cells, potentially working at height or in cramped environments.
- Safe movement and handling of large, heavy or awkward objects – manual handling training will be provided.
- Liaison with external calibration service providers, including creation of orders and shipping requests.
- Fault diagnostics and basic repairs on Instrumentation equipment.
- Planning of work to meet project and department deadlines.
- Ability to follow guidance notes/procedures and create updates as required.
- An understanding of calibration methods and standards, including UKAS and ISO accredited calibration.
- This role may also include support for other areas within Test such as Instrumentation department and Emissions systems support team.
- Periodically, planned trips to support other operation divisions off site may be required.
Key Skills and Experience
- Demonstrate the ability to carefully and accurately follow calibration processes, with excellent attention to detail.
- A methodical and process driven individual, comfortable working on their own initiative, with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use computers to read instructions, record information and to communicate with colleagues. PC Skills including Word and Excel are essential.
- Previous experience of asset management databases desirable.
- Experience of working in test, manufacturing or industrial environments would be an advantage.
- Mechanical assembly or electrical skills would be an advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure against time-based deadlines.
- Strong sense of ownership and the ability to deliver.
- A strong focus on customer and project delivery.
- Good communication skills, able to disseminate information, share work packages and liaise with Engineering team.
