Role Purpose
We seek a Principal Carbon Pricing and Climate Policy Specialist to support business development and project delivery within our Policy, Strategy and Economics Practice. Our team supports governments and agencies across Europe and globally in climate change policy development, implementation, and appraisal, focusing on areas such as international climate agreements, carbon pricing, market-based measures, and related technologies.
The role involves project management, technical delivery, business development, client relationship management, and mentoring junior staff. Experience in leading proposals and projects for clients like development banks, the European Commission, or national governments is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor market developments and identify business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain high-level client and partner relationships.
- Lead and contribute to complex proposals and project delivery.
- Manage client satisfaction, project timelines, finances, and quality outputs.
- Mentor team members and support capacity building activities.
- Represent Ricardo at client meetings and conferences.
Key Competencies and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific, engineering, environmental, legal, or economic field.
- Experience in business development and bid writing in a consultancy environment.
- Experience managing large, multidisciplinary projects and teams.
- Experience working with clients such as the European Commission, World Bank, or UK Government.
- Strong understanding of climate change policies and carbon pricing, with expertise in areas like EU policies, international negotiations, or UK initiatives.
Desirable Skills
- Strong project management skills and track record in leading complex projects.
- Excellent English communication skills; proficiency in additional European languages such as Spanish or French is a plus.
