The Role
We are looking for a Power / Electrical Engineer analyst consultant (suitable for new graduates, Masters or PhDs and those at the start of their career, looking to change to a purpose-driven career, or returning from a break) to join our Energy Infrastructure Transition team. This role will provide a stepping stone into your engineering and consultancy career in an exciting and rapidly changing sector. The team comprises a group of highly experienced professionals specialising in engineering, techno-economic, and management consultancy services for the energy sector, with particular emphasis on the power, clean fuels, waste and industrial decarbonisation sectors. We cover strategy to implementation and technical and economics aspects. We are a committed team of like-minded professionals with a growing portfolio of energy technology, policy and strategy projects.
Key Responsibilities
From day one, you will be part of a team supporting senior consultants in delivering projects to our clients. Successful applicants will have strong numeracy, analytical and communication skills together with a proactive, organised approach and a pride in the quality of their work. Over time you will be expected to develop your understanding of the energy sector – including strategic, technical, commercial and regulatory aspects.
You will contribute to research and analysis that underpins our consultancy work. You will manage your time across several projects, contributing in all phases – from researching and analysing information and data, through providing key contributions to the development of techno-economic models, to contributing to reports and presentations that are delivered to clients, and/or supporting the preparation of proposals to win new contracts. You will be responsible for the quality and delivery of your work and will liaise with other consultants and teams to incorporate your contribution into wider project outputs.

- Network reliability and connection studies.
- Smart grid / network innovation projects.
- Feasibility and implementation studies for renewable energy projects.
- Clean energy infrastructure transition including for large energy users and complex sites.
- Developing technical and economic energy sector regulatory frameworks in developing countries.
Key Competencies And Experience
- A strong degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or equivalent.
- Excellent understanding of power systems and renewable energy topics.
- Passionate about energy sector transition, innovation and sustainability.
- Familiar with Excel, including data manipulation and modelling.
- Able to effectively communicate and interact with colleagues and clients, with excellent written and spoken communications, including formal report writing, digital communication, and spoken communication skills in English.
- The ability to breakdown complex research questions, think creatively and solve novel problems.
- Fluency in English.
Desirable
- Previous work, internship or course project experience working in the energy transition industry, or working in consultancy.
- Fluency in other languages, particularly Spanish, French or Portuguese.
- Some experience using Python, Homer Pro, Helioscope, PV/Syst, DigSilent, PSS/E, Powerworld, and/or PLEXOS.
