The Role
At Ricardo, we help organisations navigate the growing expectations around ESG and climate disclosures. With more pressure from regulators, investors and customers, many of our clients are looking for practical support to understand what’s required and produce clear, credible reporting.
We are looking for someone with experience in climate-related financial disclosures, who understands frameworks such as TCFD and IFRS S2, has worked with scenario analysis and can translate technical insights into practical, client-focused outputs.
You will be part of our growing ESG team, working across a wide range of sectors to help clients identify and assess climate-related risks and opportunities, quantify financial impacts and meet both regulatory and stakeholder expectations. Key accountabilities
- Lead or support the delivery of climate-related financial disclosures aligned with TCFD and IFRS S2.
- Design and conduct climate scenario analyses to assess physical and transition risks.
- Prepare climate transition plans in line with current regulations and best practice.
- Translate technical analysis into clear, accessible disclosures for use in annual reports, sustainability reporting and other filings.
- Undertake gap analyses to benchmark current client reporting against evolving standards and expectations.
- Support clients in identifying and quantifying the financial impacts of climate risks and opportunities.
- Conduct materiality assessments using scenario-based approaches.
- Work collaboratively with finance, risk and sustainability teams to ensure technical accuracy and usability of disclosures.
- Develop, maintain and adapt climate data models to meet client and regulatory needs.
- Stay current with changes in regulatory requirements and emerging methodologies in climate-related financial reporting.
Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental science, climate science, sustainability, finance or a related field.
- Experience working on climate-related financial disclosures, TCFD reporting or scenario analysis.
- Solid understanding of climate disclosure frameworks, particularly TCFD and the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1 and S2).
- Practical experience with scenario modelling approaches and tools (e.g. IEA pathways, NGFS models).
- Strong knowledge of climate risk assessment and financial impact analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including modelling), PowerPoint and relevant analytical tools.
- Excellent technical writing skills and experience producing disclosures that meet regulatory standards.
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and translate data into meaningful business narrative.
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Desirable technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualification
- Experience working in a consultancy environment or directly with clients.
- Familiarity with broader ESG and sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g. GRI, ESRS, SASB, TNFD, UN Global Compact).
- Experience working with finance teams to integrate climate risk into business planning.
- Understanding of double materiality and CSRD.
- Experience preparing integrated sustainability or annual reports.
- Additional language skills are an advantage.
