Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of designated internal departments, ensuring high standards of performance and service delivery.
  • Play an active role within the Duty Manager rota, including early, late, and weekend shifts, supporting the team with a hands-on approach.
  • Take ownership of departmental financial performance, driving income growth and maintaining cost efficiency, including invoice approval and budget adherence.
  • Champion health and safety across all areas of responsibility, ensuring compliance and a safe environment for members and staff.
  • Maintain the Club’s prestigious 5-Star presentation standards, with a strong focus on cleanliness, maintenance, and overall facility excellence.
  • Collaborate closely with the Health Club management team to support smooth operations and contribute to the Club’s ongoing success and growth.
  • Respond effectively to any emergency situations during shifts, ensuring swift and appropriate action is taken.
  • Oversee staff scheduling, including rota planning and holiday management, to ensure optimal coverage and team well-being.
  • Carry out daily banking procedures and building safety checks with precision and accountability.

This is very much a ‘hands on’ role where you will lead by example, helping where required in all departments so an in-depth knowledge and experience of all sub-departments is essential.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable business acumen ideally previous experience of managing a profit and loss and delivering financial targets within the Hospitality and Leisure Sector.
  • Previous people management experience, ideally in the Hospitality and Leisure Sector.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with a calm demeanour and the ability to establish and maintain relationships across the Company and externally.
  • Well organised, detail oriented and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Time management skills and the ability to work effectively on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Pro-active with excellent follow through on tasks.
  • Creativity, strong problem-solving skills and personal drive to lead by example and achieve all targets across the board.
  • Technical knowledge and experience of pool plant would be advantageous.
  • Food safety is a crucial element of the health club operation therefore food safety qualifications and working knowledge would be advantageous.

Availability: This is a full-time position working 40 hours across 5 days in a department that operates 7 days a week. Full flexibility to work weekends, early mornings and evenings is essential to meet the commercial needs of the business. From £31,000 per annum based on experience.
