SEMH Learning Support Assistant | Barking | September 2026

Are you passionate about supporting young people’s wellbeing?

This role focuses on supporting a student with SEMH needs in a secondary school setting, using Team Teach training to help the student access learning, regulate emotions, and develop positive relationships throughout the school day.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for a student with SEMH needs, helping them access learning and stay engaged in class.
  • Support emotional regulation and social skills development within the school environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to implement behaviour support strategies.

Qualifications

  • Holds a valid Team Teach qualification (essential).
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Calm, resilient, and confident in managing challenging behaviour; able to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Excellent communication skills and a nurturing approach.
