A highly regarded secondary school in Kensington & Chelsea is seeking a dedicated Academic Support Assistant (Maths) to join its thriving Maths Department from September 2026.

As an Academic Support Assistant (Maths), you will work closely with experienced teachers, the Head of Department, and pastoral staff to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4. Through targeted intervention sessions, classroom support, and academic mentoring, you will help pupils build confidence, strengthen their mathematical understanding, and achieve their full potential. This role is particularly well suited to aspiring Maths Teachers who are considering a PGCE or teacher training programme in the future and are keen to gain first‑hand experience within an outstanding secondary school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted academic support to students across Years 7–11
  • Deliver tailored 1:1 and small‑group Maths intervention sessions
  • Support students in overcoming learning barriers and improving attainment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams to monitor student progress
  • Assist with lesson preparation, classroom resources, and assessment activities
  • Promote a positive, focused, and inclusive learning environment
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging engagement and academic success

Candidate Profile

  • A recent Maths graduate from a leading UK university (2:1 or above preferred)
  • Passionate about education and supporting young people's development
  • Considering a future career in teaching or educational psychology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organised, proactive, and able to work effectively within a team
  • Previous experience working with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or voluntary work is advantageous
