Are you an experienced Welfare Lead, Medical Officer, Healthcare Assistant or School Welfare professional looking for a meaningful role in a secondary school?
This Welfare Lead role is based at a high-performing academy in Pimlico, supporting students with medical, welfare and wellbeing needs. The role requires someone calm, organised and confident managing a busy medical provision.

Immediate start
36 hours per week, term-time only
Actual salary £26,399-£26,773
Based in Pimlico, Westminster
Responsible for student welfare, first aid and medical support
Excellent CPD, staff benefits and career development available
Welfare Lead | The Role
Lead the schools welfare and medical provision
Act as the main point of contact for student medical needs
Provide first aid, welfare and day-to-day medical support
Manage the medical room, medication records and medical supplies
Support students with ongoing, complex or long-term medical needs
Lead on Individual Healthcare Plans and medical documentation
Provide intimate care and catheter care where trained and required
Work closely with the DSL, SENDCo, pastoral team, parents and healthcare professionals
Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with safeguarding and GDPR
Welfare Lead | Candidate Requirements
Experience providing first aid, welfare or medical support
Experience working with children or young people
Comfortable supporting students with complex medical needs
Catheter care experience is desirable, but training can be provided
Strong organisation, record-keeping and communication skills
Calm under pressure and confident responding to medical incidents
Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries
Healthcare, first aid, nursing, childcare or welfare qualification desirable
This Welfare Lead role would suit someone who is practical, discreet and confident taking responsibility for student medical care in a busy secondary school environment.
