PRU Teaching Assistant Lewisham
A highly regarded Pupil Referral Unit in Lewisham is seeking a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis .
With just 7 pupils per class , subject-specific teaching and an excellent Ofsted rating, this is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant looking to work in a well-led PRU where pupils receive genuinely personalised support.
The Role
You will work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to support a small group of pupils who have experienced barriers to mainstream education.
You will:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support across subject-specific lessons
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Support pupils with SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs
- Help pupils remain engaged and focused during lessons
- Reinforce positive behaviour and clear boundaries
- Support emotional regulation and confidence
- Assist teachers with differentiated learning and classroom activities
- Encourage pupils to develop independence and resilience
- Work closely with the pastoral and SEN teams to support individual pupils
