A specialist SEN school in Kingston is looking for a caring and committed School Care Assistant to support pupils with PMLD and complex learning needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with complex needs and wants to make a genuine difference to their wellbeing, development, communication and independence.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with PMLD and complex needs.
- Support pupils with personal care, mobility and other day-to-day care needs.
- Assist with feeding, toileting and changing where required.
- Support pupils using wheelchairs, hoists and other specialist equipment following appropriate training.
- Encourage communication, engagement, independence and social development.
- Support pupils during lessons, sensory activities, breaktimes, lunchtimes and wider school activities.
- Follow individual care plans, EHCP outcomes and school procedures.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, medical professionals and families.
- Provide a calm, patient and reassuring presence throughout the school day.
We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children or adults with PMLD, complex needs, physical disabilities or profound learning difficulties is desirable.
- Previous experience with personal care is advantageous, although training can be provided.
- A patient, compassionate and hands-on approach.
- Comfortable supporting pupils with mobility, feeding and personal care needs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Someone who genuinely wants to help pupils develop confidence, independence and quality of life.
