A specialist Alternative Provision (AP) in Thurrock is seeking a dedicated and resilient Maths Teacher to support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs as they prepare to transition from primary into secondary education.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working with young people who may have struggled in mainstream settings and who can adapt Maths teaching to different abilities, confidence levels and learning needs.

The RoleAs a SEMH Maths Teacher, you will:
- Deliver engaging Maths lessons to pupils preparing to transition into secondary education.
- Teach across upper primary and early secondary Maths, adapting content to individual starting points.
- Identify and address gaps in mathematical knowledge and confidence.
- Build positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced difficulties in mainstream education.
- Use consistent, positive behaviour strategies to create a safe and structured learning environment.
- Support pupils to develop independence, resilience and confidence in Maths.
- Monitor academic and pastoral progress and contribute to individual learning plans.
- Work closely with pastoral staff, families and other professionals to support successful transitions.
- Help pupils develop the skills and confidence needed to re-engage with education and progress into their next stage of learning.
