A successful secondary school in Colchester is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Unqualified English Teacher to join their team as soon as possible. The successful candidate will teach small nurture classes across a full-time teaching timetable, working predominantly with Year 7 pupils to strengthen their academic skills, build confidence and support their transition into secondary education.

The Role
- Teach small nurture classes across a full-time teaching timetable
- Work predominantly with Year 7 pupils, supporting their transition into secondary school
- Deliver engaging and structured English lessons designed around individual pupil needs
- Boost pupils' academic progress, with a particular focus on English and literacy
- Support pupils with reading, writing, spelling, grammar and comprehension
- Identify gaps in knowledge and adapt teaching accordingly
- Build pupils' confidence, independence and engagement with learning
- Establish positive relationships and maintain high expectations within the classroom
- Use assessment to monitor progress and inform future teaching
- Work closely with English teachers, pastoral staff and the wider school team
- Create a calm, nurturing and purposeful classroom environment
