A specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) school in Bromley is seeking a confident, energetic and resilient Teaching Assistant to support students across the school, with a particular focus on PE, sport and physical activity .
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a sporting background who enjoys motivating young people, building positive relationships and helping students develop confidence, teamwork and self-discipline.
You may be a sports graduate, coach, aspiring PE teacher or experienced Teaching Assistant looking to work in a specialist setting. Previous SEMH experience is beneficial but not essential — the right attitude, reliability and ability to manage behaviour are key.
The Role – PE, Sport & SEMH Support Support teachers during PE lessons and encourage students to participate in physical activities.
Use sport to develop teamwork, confidence, communication and positive behaviour.
Build trusting relationships with students who may struggle with emotional regulation or engagement in education.
Support students who display challenging behaviour, using calm communication and consistent boundaries.
Encourage pupils who lack confidence or are reluctant to participate.
Assist with classroom learning and provide support throughout the wider school day.
Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to maintain a safe, structured learning environment.
Help students develop resilience, independence and positive social skills.
