Are you an exceptional Head of Computer Science ready to take ownership of a growing subject area? We are working with a successful secondary school in Bushey, Hertfordshire, seeking a Head of Computer Science to join on a full-time, permanent basis from January 2027, with an April 2027 start potentially negotiable.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Head of Computer Science to lead the subject across the school while working alongside and supporting one other Computer Science teacher. The successful Head of Computer Science will have genuine scope to shape curriculum, teaching and student engagement.
The Opportunity
As Head of Computer Science, you will take responsibility for the development and delivery of Computer Science across the school.
You will work closely with one other teacher, ensuring consistency in:
- Curriculum planning and sequencing
- Teaching and learning
- Assessment and progress
- Student engagement and achievement
- Development of the subject across KS3-KS5
This role would suit an experienced teacher looking for their first formal subject leadership position, or an existing Head of Computer Science seeking a smaller department with greater autonomy.

The ideal Head of Computer Science will have:
- PGCE in Secondary Computer Science or Computing, with QTS.
- Strong secondary Computer Science teaching experience
- Excellent subject knowledge
- Experience teaching Computing/Computer Science at KS3 and KS4; KS5 desirable
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- A passion for developing students' digital and computational thinking
- The confidence to lead a subject and support another teacher
- High expectations of teaching, learning and student outcomes
