SEN Teacher (Year 6)

Year 6 Primary Teacher ASD / SEMH Location: Thurrock, Essex Role: Year 6 Primary Teacher Setting: ASD / SEMH Alternative Provision Contract: Full-time Start: ASAP Ribbons & Reeves are working with Olive AP Academy North View in Thurrock, who are looking for a Year 6 Primary Teacher to join their specialist team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Primary Teacher who wants to work with pupils who have often had difficult or negative experiences of education and need the right environment, relationships and approach to re-engage with learning. The pupils may present with ASD, SEMH, anxiety and associated behavioural needs , so this is a role where building trust and understanding each young person's individual needs is just as important as delivering the curriculum. The RoleYou will teach a Year 6 cohort , delivering a broad range of the Primary National Curriculum while adapting lessons around the individual needs, interests and starting points of your pupils. The academy has a strong emphasis on outdoor, practical and experiential learning , providing pupils with opportunities to learn in different environments and develop confidence, independence and positive relationships. You will be working with pupils who may be anxious, disengaged or reluctant to participate in traditional classroom learning . The successful teacher will therefore be patient, consistent and creative, using strong relationships to gradually rebuild pupils' confidence in education. Subject specialisms are welcomed , with opportunities to bring your own interests and strengths into the curriculum.
