Speech & Language Teaching Assistant sought in Redbridge for an immediate start! Are you a talented UK Graduate seeking to make an impact on learning as a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant? Do you have the relevant experience and/or Speech and Language qualifications to be a major force in this role?

One of our lovely Redbridge-based Secondary schools are looking to draft a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant who can play a key role in the academic development and in-school engagement of some of their students.

As a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Develop and prepare visual materials for therapy and classroom sessions
  • Keep written records of pupil observations
  • Carry out general Teaching Assistant responsibilities in amongst your Speech and Language role
  • Work under supervision of the school SENCo and various Class Teachers
  • Provide effective support to less experienced colleagues, modelling good practice

This Speech & Language Teaching Assistant role will include extensive in house and external training, designed to further develop your S+L profile, and there will be support and supervision from the Speech and Language Therapy Department. The pupils in question are in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and make steady academic progress, but the school's new Speech & Language Teaching Assistant will be charged with engaging these students 1:1, helping them break down learning and manage their S+L difficulties to help them progress at a faster rate, along with developing their social skills.
