Are you an experienced education professional with a strong background in literacy and secondary education? This HLTA Literacy Specialist opportunity is ideal for someone with experience supporting pupils within a secondary school setting.

A well-regarded secondary academy in Enfield is seeking a confident and academically strong HLTA Literacy Specialist to join their SEND provision from September 2026. The successful HLTA Literacy Specialist will have previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils and delivering literacy support, interventions or targeted academic support.

This HLTA Literacy Specialist role will involve delivering targeted 1:1 and small-group literacy interventions, supporting pupils with reading, writing and comprehension, and adapting provision to meet individual SEND needs.

HLTA Literacy Specialist | Candidate Profile
A degree from a leading university is essential.
Previous experience working in a secondary school setting is essential.
Previous experience supporting pupils with literacy, SEND or targeted interventions is highly desirable.
A-Level English Literature is highly desirable.
Confident working with secondary-aged pupils and adapting support to different learning needs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A genuine interest in supporting young people with SEND and overcoming barriers to learning.
Patient, proactive and able to build strong professional relationships with pupils.
Able to work effectively alongside teachers, SEND staff and pastoral teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA Literacy Specialist to develop their specialist knowledge of literacy and SEND within a supportive secondary school environment.
