A successful secondary school in Braintree is seeking an experienced Unqualified KS2 Literacy Teacher with a strong literacy background to join their team as soon as possible. This is a unique opportunity for a primary-trained education professional with Upper KS2 experience to support Year 7 pupils, helping them settle into secondary school, improve their literacy skills and boost their academic results.

The Role - As an Unqualified KS2 Literacy Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver targeted literacy and academic intervention to Year 7 pupils
  • Support pupils with gaps in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and comprehension
  • Use assessment to identify areas for development and track progress
  • Build pupils' confidence, independence and engagement with learning
  • Help pupils develop the skills needed to access the secondary curriculum
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff
  • Provide structured, engaging lessons tailored to individual needs

What the School is Looking For - The ideal Unqualified KS2 Literacy Teacher will:

  • Hold a 2:1 or First-Class Degree
  • Have a strong literacy background
  • Have strong experience working with or teaching Upper KS2 pupils
  • Have a proven background in supporting pupils with gaps in literacy and learning
  • Be confident adapting teaching to individual needs
  • Have high expectations alongside a nurturing and encouraging approach
  • Be legally entitled to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available)
