About the School

This Enfield secondary school and sixth form serves a wonderfully diverse urban community, and its Citizenship curriculum is all the stronger for it. Pupils engage with topics spanning democracy, human rights, the law, and social justice with genuine depth and personal relevance - bringing their own lived experiences into discussions that matter. The department delivers a structured, knowledge-rich programme across KS3 and KS4, with strong links to PSHE and the wider Humanities faculty. Behaviour is managed through consistent whole-school systems that create purposeful, respectful classrooms where every Citizenship Teacher can facilitate the kind of meaningful dialogue that defines great Citizenship teaching.

What the School Offers

  • A school community that brings genuine cultural and social diversity into every Citizenship lesson
  • Strong cross-faculty collaboration with Humanities, PSHE, and RE colleagues
  • Structured CPD with clear pathways into middle leadership or curriculum development
  • A school that actively values Citizenship as a serious academic and civic discipline
  • Supportive SLT with a genuine commitment to staff wellbeing and professional growth

The Role

As a Citizenship Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, discussion-rich lessons across KS3 and KS4, developing pupils' understanding of democracy, rights, responsibilities, and active civic participation. You will contribute to sixth form enrichment and general studies provision, use assessment to track and drive progress, and build strong relationships with a pupil community that brings genuine passion and perspective to the subject. Maintaining high standards of debate, respect, and intellectual rigour will be central to your practice as a Citizenship Teacher in this school.

What the School is Looking For

  • This permanent Citizenship Teacher position will suit candidates who:
  • Hold British QTS or are completing a UK-accredited teacher training programme
  • Graduated with a 2:1 or above in Citizenship, Politics, Law, Sociology, or a related discipline from a reputable UK university, ideally Russell Group
  • Have meaningful classroom experience within a UK secondary school setting through placements or a substantive teaching post
  • Show clear evidence of structured lesson delivery and measurable pupil progress in Citizenship or a related Humanities subject
  • Are confident facilitating challenging discussions within a consistent whole-school behaviour framework
  • Are legally entitled to work in the UK - visa sponsorship is not available
  • ECT applicants are welcomed provided formal UK teacher training has been completed.

Salary & Contract

Outer London MPS: £37,870 to £50,474, with UPS up to £56,154. TLR opportunities may be available for candidates with relevant Humanities or PSHE leadership experience.
