A highly respected independent specialist SEND school in South East London is seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher (Head of College) to lead its Post-16 provision from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the strategic direction of an expanding College supporting students aged 16-19+ with Autism and a range of additional learning needs within a nurturing, therapeutic environment.

What the Role Involves

As Assistant Headteacher (Head of College), you'll provide strategic leadership for the school's Post-16 provision, overseeing curriculum development, quality of education, EHCP implementation and personalised pathways into adulthood. You'll line manage College staff, drive teaching and learning, lead transition planning, develop accreditation and employability opportunities, and work closely with parents, local authorities and external agencies. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you'll play a key role in shaping whole-school improvement and maintaining outstanding outcomes for young people with SEND.

The successful candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have significant experience teaching and leading within SEND. Previous curriculum leadership or senior leadership experience is essential, alongside a strong understanding of Post-16 pathways, EHCPs and inclusive education.
