PRU Teaching Assistant β Redbridge | SEMH | Behaviour Have you worked with young people who have struggled in mainstream education?
A Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Redbridge is looking for a resilient and committed Teaching Assistant to support young people who may have experienced exclusion, disengagement, challenging behaviour or difficulties accessing mainstream education.
This isn't a role for someone who expects every day to be straightforward. It's for someone who understands that building trust, setting clear boundaries and giving a young person another chance can be the first step towards getting them back on track.
The Role Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Help young people re-engage with education
Build positive relationships with students who may be resistant to support
Support learning across the curriculum
Manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
Help pupils develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies
Support students during lessons, transitions and less structured periods
Encourage attendance, engagement, confidence and resilience
Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff
Contribute to a safe, structured and positive environment

Previous PRU or SEMH experience is highly desirable, but it's not the only thing we're looking for.
