Speech & Language Teaching Assistant | Waltham Forest | ASAP Start£444£513 per week via PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay) | Full-time | Term-time only | ASAP StartA highly inclusive primary school in Waltham Forest is seeking a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This long-term opportunity is ideal for graduates looking to gain practical experience supporting children with communication and language needs before progressing into Speech & Language Therapy, Educational Psychology, Teaching or wider SEND careers.
The school has a strong focus on early intervention and inclusive practice, with communication and language development embedded throughout the curriculum. Pupils benefit from targeted interventions, specialist SEND support and close collaboration with external professionals.
As a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant, you will have the valuable opportunity to work directly alongside qualified Speech and Language Therapists , gaining first-hand experience of intervention planning, communication strategies and approaches used to support children's language development.
Key responsibilities:
Delivering targeted speech and language interventions on a 1:1 and small-group basisSupporting pupils with communication needs during classroom lessonsWorking directly with qualified Speech and Language Therapists to implement recommended strategiesReinforcing individual therapy targets and helping pupils apply communication skills across the school dayMonitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching, SEND and specialist staffWhat the school offers: Direct experience working alongside qualified Speech and Language TherapistsSEND, communication and language training opportunitiesExperience collaborating with SENCOs and external specialistsStructured intervention programmes and strong support systemsExcellent preparation for graduates considering Speech & Language Therapy careersThe successful candidate will hold a strong degree alongside previous child-centred experience. Excellent communication skills, patience and a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs are essential.
