We are looking for a Graduate ASD Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive specialist SEND school in Barnet.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Graduate or aspiring education professional to gain valuable first-hand experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional learning needs. The successful candidate will join a supportive team committed to helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
As a Graduate ASD Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ASD and additional learning needs. You will work closely with teachers and the SEND team to implement tailored support strategies, promote positive behaviour, and help pupils develop their communication, confidence, independence, and engagement with learning.
Graduate ASD Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Holds a 2:1 or First-Class degree, ideally in Psychology, Education, Sociology, or a related subject
- Has previous child-centred experience through schools, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, or similar settings
- Has experience working with children or young people with ASD or additional learning needs (desirable but not essential)
- Is calm, patient, empathetic, and consistent when supporting pupils with SEND
- Can build positive, trusting, and supportive relationships with young people
- Has strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
- Demonstrates resilience, compassion, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people
- Has a strong desire to develop professionally and pursue a career in education, SEN, Psychology, or a related field
- Is passionate about supporting pupils with ASD and additional learning needs
