Autism Support Assistant | Barnet | Immediate Start We are looking for an enthusiastic Autism Support Assistant to join a high-achieving secondary school in Barnet, which has a specialist provision supporting students with autism. This is an excellent opportunity for an Autism Support Assistant looking to develop their experience within a dedicated SEND environment.
The successful Autism Support Assistant will work closely with students with autism, providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support throughout the school day. As an Autism Support Assistant, you will be part of a dedicated SEND team committed to helping students thrive academically, socially and personally.
The Role | Autism Support Assistant Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with autism. Support learning, communication, social development and independence. Work closely with teachers, SEND staff and other professionals. Take initiative and adapt your approach to individual needs. Build positive relationships and contribute to an inclusive environment. Hours : 8:10am–3:20pm, with an early finish of 1:30pm on Fridays. Punctuality and reliability are essential. Start : Immediate Duration : Long-term, initially until the end of the academic year
About You The school is looking for an Autism Support Assistant with an excellent attitude, strong punctuality and plenty of initiative. You should be proactive, inquisitive and receptive to feedback, with the ability to work effectively in a busy, high-pressure environment. Personality and attitude are incredibly important, as the school is committed to doing the very best for its students.
2:1 minimum degree, ideally Psychology or a relevant subject – other degrees considered. Strong A-Levels, ideally A*–B grades. Child-centred, tutoring or youth work experience desirable, including informal experience. Warm, resilient and confident with young people.
