An ambitious and community-focused primary setting in Camden is seeking an Assistant Headteacher with strong EYFS and Key Stage 1 expertise and the leadership presence to drive standards, culture, and consistency across the school. This is a highly visible role with a clear strategic focus on Early Years, alongside a number of interim whole-school responsibilities (maternity cover). You will work closely with the Headteacher and leadership team, leading with warmth, clarity and high expectations.
Key responsibilities
- 1 day per week class teaching (likely within EYFS)
- Strategic lead for EYFS, including line management of the EYFS Phase Leader
- Phase Leader for Year 1 and Year 2, driving high-quality teaching, learning and outcomes
- OPAL Play Working Party lead (Curriculum Link), supporting an engaging and purposeful play offer
- Interim Whole School Behaviour Lead (maternity cover), embedding consistent expectations and routines
- Interim Pupil Premium Lead (maternity cover), ensuring evidence-informed strategy and impact
- Interim Whole School Quality Assurance Lead (maternity cover), strengthening teaching and learning through robust QA systems
- Educational Visits Co-ordinator (EVC), ensuring safe, enriching and well-led visits
- EYFS and KS1 CPD Lead, planning and delivering staff development that improves practice
- Interim lead for statutory assessments in EYFS and Year 1 (maternity cover), ensuring accuracy, readiness and confidence across the phase
