The Council is looking to appoint a part time Housing Needs Officer (HNO). The primary role is to advise and assist households at risk of homelessness. The Council offers a range of initiatives to prevent homelessness and the HNO’s role will be to deliver these schemes.
The post involves making home visits, inspecting properties and interviewing households. The service offers daily appointments or over the phone advice and assistance, which then requires follow up casework by the HNO. The role involves partnership working with housing providers, care/support providers, probation service, mental health services and many other agencies.
Excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of homelessness legislation are essential.
