We are recruiting on behalf of a fantastic specialist education setting in Ribchester that is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis from September. This rewarding role involves supporting children aged 8–9 years with Autism and other related needs. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, child-centred learning experiences, adapting lessons to meet a range of learning styles and developmental needs. The school places a strong emphasis on practical, hands-on and play-based learning activities that help pupils build confidence, independence and a love of learning. This is an excellent opportunity for a Teacher who is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

Job Description

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils aged 8–9 years with Autism and other related needs.
  • Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Deliver hands-on, practical and play-based learning activities.
  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress against individual targets.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, parents and external professionals.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and independence.
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews and personalised learning plans.
  • Maintain high expectations while celebrating every pupil’s achievements.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Primary Education.
  • Experience supporting and teaching pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
  • Valid Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Strong understanding of SEND practices and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience working within a specialist SEN setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism and additional complex needs.
  • Understanding of EHCPs and target-based learning.
  • Team Teach or positive behaviour support training.
  • A creative approach to delivering engaging, practical learning experiences.
