We are recruiting on behalf of a fantastic specialist education setting in Ribchester that is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis from September. This rewarding role involves supporting children aged 8–9 years with Autism and other related needs. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, child-centred learning experiences, adapting lessons to meet a range of learning styles and developmental needs. The school places a strong emphasis on practical, hands-on and play-based learning activities that help pupils build confidence, independence and a love of learning. Job Description
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Support pupils aged 8–9 years with Autism and other related needs.
- Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
- Deliver hands-on, practical and play-based learning activities.
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress against individual targets.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, parents and external professionals.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and independence.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews and personalised learning plans.
- Maintain high expectations while celebrating every pupil’s achievements.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Primary Education.
- Experience supporting and teaching pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
- Valid Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to Work in the UK.
- Strong understanding of SEND practices and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working within a specialist SEN setting.
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism and additional complex needs.
- Understanding of EHCPs and target-based learning.
- Team Teach or positive behaviour support training.
- A creative approach to delivering engaging, practical learning experiences.
