Job Title: Warehousing and Despatch Manager

Location: Oldham

Salary: 55k per year + Pension + Bonus + PMI

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Role Purpose

To lead and motivate (through two Team Leaders), a team of 20+ shift-based drivers, ensuring delivery targets and objectives (KPI\’s) and strategy, through a culture of continuous improvement. Ensuring that all activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality, customer service, and stock control.

A hands-on leader, directly contributing to the overall achievement of the wider business objectives by solving problems, exploiting opportunities, developing standards / systems, and managing change.

Key Requirements

  • Proven warehouse management experience (manufacturing / logistics preferred)
  • Relevant quality management and systems experience
  • Previous experience working within a busy operational management team, leading people

Principle Accountabilities

  • Ensure all Health & Safety and Quality standards are in place, understood, and adhered to.
  • In conjunction with the HR Director ensure operations staff are trained and competent to undertake relevant duties – including flexibility / mobility of labour throughout the operation.
  • Plan and monitor workloads, shift pattern, overtime, and holiday cover to ensure continuity of operations
  • Work closely with the site Production Manager to ensure all manufacturing lines are suitably serviced.
  • Optimise use of available space through dynamic allocation of \’zones\’ for internal board stock, finished goods stock bays, loading bays, stand trailers, outside warehousing, and shunting operations.
  • Ensure stock accuracy is maintained through product scanning, labelling, cyclical stock checks
  • Ensure FIFO stock rotation principles are in place and adhered to including the timely management of quarantined stock, obsolete stock, and part pallets.
  • Safeguard customer service through on-time loading and unloading of outbound and inbound deliveries.
  • Provide reports / analysis and opportunities for improvement recommendations for relevant KPIs.
  • To undertake other roles and tasks as requested that are commensurate with the level and function of this post.
  • Play an active part in the wider Operations Management Team to deliver added value to the business.

  • Accident / incident Rates.
  • Quality complaints / incidents / waste.
  • Customer service levels.
  • Labour Utilisation (Cost per ksm / overtime / headcount).
  • Absence levels.
  • Warehouse related downtime e.g. manufacturing not waiting for FLT resource.
