Rate: £16.35 per hour PAYE / £20.84 per hour Umbrella

Newport City Council is recruiting Assertive Move On Workers to help single people currently living in temporary accommodation transition into safe, long-term housing.
This is a vital front-line role where your support could change the direction of someone’s life.
About the Role
The role focuses on supporting individuals in temporary accommodation to secure appropriate long-term housing. You will work with local Housing Associations, private landlords and partner agencies to remove barriers and create sustainable housing solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support people to move from temporary accommodation into permanent accommodation
- Develop personalised move-on support plans
- Liaise with landlords, housing providers and support services
- Advocate on behalf of service users to secure housing options
- Complete housing register and tenancy applications
- Conduct accommodation visits and community outreach
- Maintain accurate records and work to deadlines
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across housing, health and support services
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Experience in housing, homelessness or support services
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload
- Strong communication, advocacy and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of housing legislation and pathways (desirable)
- Person-centred and professional approach with resilience
- Ability to build trust and engage with vulnerable individuals
