About The Role
The Digital Programme Manager leads the definition, governance and delivery of RIBA’s Phase 2 digital transformation (2026–27), overseeing a portfolio of member, public and commercial digital products. The role ensures high-quality, secure and user-centred platforms are delivered on time and to value, coordinating cross-functional teams and suppliers while providing senior assurance, clear governance and measurable benefits that drive engagement, learning, awareness and income.
Main Responsibilities
- Accountable for the Phase 2 digital portfolio, setting outcomes, benefits and success measures with senior leaders and operating an effective governance model.
- Directly lead delivery of RIBA Academy, RIBA Books and RIBA Pix while overseeing and supporting a wider portfolio of digital projects across the organisation.
- Define and oversee programme plans, reporting and controls; identify and mitigate strategic and operational risks.
- Communicate programme value across all levels; manage suppliers to contract and ensure delivery quality.
- Manage a complex multi-line budget and line-manage a Digital Project Manager.
- Ensure platforms meet pan RIBA UX, user journey and content standards and comply with cyber security, data protection and GDPR requirements.
What are we looking for?
Essential
- Significant experience in delivering digital programmes consisting of new sites, products and applications.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a mixed model where you are directly responsible for some deliverables whilst also providing oversight, alignment and support to others delivering across a portfolio.
- Significant experience in working with suppliers to agree deliverables, remain on plan, address problems and hold to account for successful delivery.
- Demonstrable experience in managing complex budgets, forecasting spends and keeping within allocated values.
- Solid knowledge of user experience, journey design and content management best practice.
- Thorough understanding of digital application requirements capture development, testing and release processes.
Desirable
- Qualification or experience in product development or change methodologies (e.g. Scrum, DSDM, PRINCE2, MSP).
- Experience delivering complex programmes of work, including defining benefits and success measures.
- Confidence providing governance information and running oversight boards led by senior staff.
- Experience managing programmes of work alongside change activity, mapping dependencies and resource requirements.
- Experience using process mapping and delivery tools (e.g. Figma/Visio, Jira, Azure DevOps).
- Exposure to digital and e-commerce platforms, with an understanding of modern web technologies and integrations.
- Experience working in a cultural, museum or collections environment or working with equivalent digital assets.
