Hodgkinson Design are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic qualified architect to join a small but prestigious architecture and interior design company based in west London, with previous experience in high end residential projects. The candidate should be able to act as team leader within the studio and external consultants and contractors, with the ability to work with authority on all aspects of discipline, client liaison, brief taking, concept design, planning, detail design for shell and fit out, site inspections and projection of the company as a strong reliable entity.

About us: Prior to starting Hodgkinson Design, Andrew worked with some of the UK’s leading companies in fashion and beauty, creating stores and brand strategy. His ability to look at the sculptural possibilities within design has enabled Hodgkinson Design to produce beautiful homes for their clients. With a seamless approach to architecture and interior design, resulting in the creation of stunning individual homes, we are experts in navigating the planning process. We undertake a wide range of projects from new build homes to the refurbishment and extension of existing properties. We offer tailored solutions for our clients’ requirements and ambitions. We have a team that works closely together so office dynamics are extremely important to our approach and design process. With each new project, we build a team of specialists to respond to the project and act as the lead consultant and coordinator with third-party consultants, to ensure smooth project delivery for our clients.

Requirements:

  • A qualified architect with the ability to work as architect and interior designer with experience of working in the UK.
  • The role requires a portfolio showcasing UK private residential work.
  • Membership of the ARB.
  • Membership of RIBA.
  • Experience of working in high end mixed-use and residential projects.
  • Knowledge and experience of UK planning legislation, planning process, building regulations and UK approved documents for building control compliance.
  • Excellent understanding of construction to be able to produce full technical construction detailing coordinated with other consultants as required.
  • Site experience and job running skills.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and freehand drawing communication skills required.
  • Positive ambitious attitude.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to express spatial ideas in 2D as well as 3D.
  • Well-organised and able to manage multiple deadlines efficiently.
  • Good skills in CAD software - SketchUp, Vectorworks and Enscape. Autocad is also fine as transferrable.
  • Experience using Mac systems. Word, Excel, PowerPoint + Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe InDesign + Photoshop, ideally.
  • Strong graphical presentation skills and experience of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Experience in FF&E.

Candidates must be willing to undergo a standard three-month probationary period.
