KWA Architects (Cambridge) Ltd is a specialist practice working across rural, equestrian, residential and commercial development. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Architect to join our growing team and take a leading role across a diverse portfolio of projects from concept design through to delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious architect to work within a small, collaborative studio environment, taking ownership of projects, managing client relationships and contributing to the continued growth and development of the practice.

Role Overview

You will lead and manage projects across all stages, from initial concept and planning through to technical delivery and construction. This in-office role involves close collaboration with clients, consultants and contractors and supporting the day-to-day operation of the Architectural team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop architectural concepts, sketches and detailed drawing packages for development;
  • Prepare high-quality architectural drawings including plans, sections, elevations and technical details;
  • Manage projects from inception through to completion, ensuring delivery in line with programme, budget and quality expectations;
  • Liaise directly with clients in a professional manner including leading Site Meetings;
  • Coordinate with engineers, consultants, contractors and external stakeholders throughout projects;
  • Undertake site visits and inspections to monitor progress and compliance and resolve arising issues;
  • Apply sound technical knowledge of building regulations, construction methods and materials;
  • Assist with planning applications, building regulation submissions and project administration;
  • Maintain accurate project records, meeting documentation and reporting.

Requirements

  • Qualified Architect with relevant professional experience including running projects on site;
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience working in the UK;
  • Excellent proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop InDesign and Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent understanding of architectural principles, detailing and building regulations;
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines;
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills;
  • Professional, proactive and detail-orientated approach;
  • Commitment to continuous professional development;
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car for site visits across the country;
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with equestrian developments is advantageous but not essential.
