CD Architects is an established architectural practice based in Airdrie, delivering projects across a diverse range of sectors, including leisure, life sciences, retail, community, commercial and residential developments. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of exciting projects, we are seeking an experienced Senior Project Architect or Architectural Technician to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware, design-led professional with strong technical delivery skills to take ownership of projects from concept through to completion.

Working closely with our senior leadership team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality bespoke projects while helping to shape the future growth of the practice. The successful candidate will lead and manage projects across multiple RIBA stages, taking responsibility for design development, technical delivery, consultant coordination and site-stage administration. You will be expected to develop innovative and practical design solutions, produce high-quality technical information, and ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on programme and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design and delivery of commercial and residential projects of varying scale and complexity
  • Managing projects through all RIBA work stages from concept to completion
  • Producing and coordinating high-quality drawing packages and technical information
  • Administering traditional building contracts and supporting site-stage delivery
  • Working closely with clients, consultant teams, contractors and local authorities
  • Contributing to placemaking, design development, project coordination and delivery programmes
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members
  • Playing an active role in the continued growth and development of the practice

About You

We are looking for a talented and motivated Architect or Architectural Technician / Designer with 5–10 years' post-qualification experience and a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects.

  • ARB Registered Architect or experienced Architectural Technician / Designer
  • Proven experience delivering projects through all design and construction stages
  • Strong technical knowledge and construction detailing expertise
  • Experience administering traditional building contracts
  • Excellent technical drawing, presentation and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Revit (AutoCAD experience also advantageous)
  • Strong knowledge of Scottish planning policy, building regulations and construction processes
  • Proven experience within the residential sector, with commercial sector experience highly desirable
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet project deadlines
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence
  • RIAS/RIBA membership
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience leading teams and coordinating multi-disciplinary project delivery
