Due to an increasing workload, we are looking for a motivated architectural assistant, technician or architectural technologist to join our expanding small practice. Based in Ayr, our work is predominantly in Ayrshire and across the central belt. At Donald Hunter Architects our aim is to deliver high quality architecture that is specific to its context and improves the lives of the people who use it regardless of scale or budget. We pride ourselves in providing a friendly yet high quality service to our clients. Our work is mainly bespoke homes, house extensions and renovations of old and listed buildings, however we are also currently working on small sites for multiple houses and community projects.
Responsibilities
- Work across all RIBA stages including preparing detailed design drawings, planning applications, building warrant applications and tender packages when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is essential.
- Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop desirable but not essential.
- Experience in SketchUp and rendering software, such as Lumion, preferred as most of our projects involve 3D modelling and visuals.
- Good working knowledge of Scottish planning policies and building regulations.
- Experience in preparing planning and building warrant applications.
- Excellent detailing ability in particular on domestic/residential projects.
- Capable of working both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a small team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to interact effectively with clients, design team, contractors and local authorities.
- Full driving licence preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
A competitive salary package based upon ability and experience will be discussed with each candidate and reviewed annually. The role is office based in our newly renovated office on Beresford Terrace, a short walk from the town centre, train station and the beach.
