Clerical Officers – Mater Hospital, Belfast

About the role:
- £12.21 per hour
- 37 hours per week
- Monday to Friday (8.30am – 4.30pm / 9.00am – 5.00pm)
- Saturday & Sunday (8.30 – 4.30 pm, once every 5 weeks)
- Location: Mater Hospital, Belfast
- Public sector
- Temporary role (Up to December 31st 2025)
What you\’ll be doing in this role:
- Using Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archive Systems (PACS) within Imaging in Belfast Trust, register referrals in line with Integrated Elective Access Policy (IEAP) and department protocols.
- Liaise with clients, staff, and departments internal and external to the Trust to ensure full and efficient service.
- Participate in general office duties in accordance with local Policies & Procedures, i.e., filing, photocopying, and data entry or typing if applicable.
- Provide admin cover at Imaging reception desks behaving in accordance with Trust Values.
- Make and receive telephone calls and take appropriate action.
- Open, distribute, and re-direct mail as appropriate.
- In line with Trust policy, participate in Trust staff reviews and ensure personal Mandatory training is up to date.
- Be willing to participate in shift working including long days, weekends, bank holidays across all sites within the Belfast Trust.
- Maintain standards of confidentiality regarding all information held in respect of service users and staff.
- Provide cover for staff during periods of sick/annual leave.
- Deal with day-to-day queries as appropriate.
- Assist in training of other staff, as necessary.
What you\’ll need for this role:
- 4 GCSEs at grade C or above to include English Language or equivalent qualification.
- OR NVQ Level II in Administration.
- OR a minimum of one year’s administrative clerical experience.
- AND the flexibility to work in a changing environment. Availability to work extended hours and over weekends where required.
- Effective communication skills to meet the needs of the post in full.
- Ability to work well with others as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- As part of the reference checking and vetting process, you will be requested to undertake a Basic AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a barrier to employment.
