Clerical Officer – City Hospital, Belfast

About the role:

  • £12.21 per hour
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday (8.00am – 4.00pm / 11:30am – 7:00pm / 9.00am – 5.00pm)
  • Saturday & Sunday (8.30 – 4.30 pm, once every 5 weeks)
  • Location: City Hospital, Belfast
  • Public sector
  • Temporary role (Up to December 31st 2025)

What you\’ll be doing in this role:

  • Using Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archive Systems (PACS) within Imaging in Belfast Trust, register referrals in line with Integrated Elective Access Policy (IEAP) and department protocols.
  • Liaise with clients, staff, and departments internal and external to the Trust to ensure full and efficient service.
  • Participate in general office duties in accordance with local Policies & Procedures, i.e., filing, photocopying, data entry, or typing if applicable.
  • Provide admin cover at Imaging reception desks behaving in accordance with Trust Values.
  • Make and receive telephone calls and take appropriate action.
  • Open, distribute, and redirect mail as appropriate.
  • In line with Trust policy, participate in Trust staff reviews and ensure personal Mandatory training is up to date.
  • Be willing to participate in shift working including long days, weekends, bank holidays across all sites within the Belfast Trust.
  • Maintain standards of confidentiality regarding all information held in respect of service users and staff.
  • Provide cover for staff during periods of sick/annual leave.
  • Deal with day-to-day queries as appropriate.
  • Assist in training of other staff, as necessary.

What you\’ll need for this role:

  • 4 GCSEs at grade C or above to include English Language or equivalent qualification.
  • OR NVQ Level II in Administration.
  • OR a minimum of one year’s administrative clerical experience.
  • Flexibility to work in a changing environment and availability to work extended hours and weekends where required.
  • Effective communication skills to meet the needs of the post.
  • Ability to work well with others as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • As part of the reference checking and vetting process, you may be asked to undertake an AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily disqualify you.
