RI Talent is currently working with a well-established local authority seeking an experienced Lawyer to join its Legal Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified legal professional to work on a broad range of public sector matters within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality legal advice to officers, members and stakeholders, supporting key decision-making processes and helping deliver effective services to the local community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and practical legal advice across a range of local government matters.
  • Manage a varied caseload including drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal documentation.
  • Attend and advise at committee meetings, sub-committees and business meetings where required.
  • Represent the organization at court, tribunals, hearings and public inquiries where appropriate.
  • Draft and review reports, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Use legal case management and document management systems effectively.
  • Support colleagues within the legal team and contribute to continuous service improvement.
  • Identify and manage legal risks while supporting operational and strategic objectives.
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FILEX professional (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • Previous experience providing legal advice within local government or the public sector.
  • Specialist knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Property, Planning, Commercial Contracts, Litigation, Housing Disrepair.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience using legal technology and case management systems.
