LIFE SCIENCE SECTOR

CAR ALLOWANCE (10% of salary)

Our client, a globally respected, multidisciplinary design consultancy are looking to recruit an experienced Associate Architect with 8-10 years of experience. You will be working within an established Architecture division specialising in Life Science sector. This position offers 2 days of hybrid working, a car allowance (10% of salary), a generous pension scheme, 25 days holiday (plus the ability to buy/sell), life assurance, income protection, and enhanced parental leave. You will be working on a range of laboratories, research facilities, innovation districts and university research buildings across a broad range of scientific disciplines and technologies.

Key Duties

  • Lead laboratory consultancy projects as Project Leader, taking responsibility for project management, design coordination, and championing multi-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Prepare additional fee proposals for client consideration where appropriate.
  • Act as a trusted consultant, providing expert advice to clients, lead architects, and project collaborators.
  • Participate in meetings with architects, consultants, contractors, and wider project teams in a consultative capacity across single and multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Lead design, analysis, and consultancy work under the guidance of the Project Director.
  • Coach, mentor, and support junior team members to help them perform effectively and develop professionally.
  • Promote the wellbeing of the project team and proactively raise concerns relating to project delivery, resourcing, or client relationships.
  • Build strong internal and external networks to support work-winning activities, including bidding, repeat business, and cross-disciplinary opportunities.
  • Develop and present multiple creative solutions to project challenges, clearly articulating the benefits and limitations of each while considering the requirements of other disciplines.
  • Produce high-quality reports, presentations, models, and drawings as required.
  • Maintain ongoing learning and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Identify new opportunities to enhance the business’s skills, services, and market presence within Laboratory Consultancy and the Science & Technology sector.

Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience as a job leader on science sector projects.
  • Proven experience in laboratory briefing and planning, with strong graphic communication skills and experience coordinating with clients and other consultants.
  • Broad professional experience across science projects and non-science sectors, particularly fit-out.
  • Strong Revit modelling capability.
  • A genuine interest in the life sciences sector, with a desire to continue developing specialist expertise in this area.
  • Experience coordinating complex projects, including fit-out and building services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication abilities.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, and the Microsoft Office suite is advantageous.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, open, and multidisciplinary environment.
