About the Venue: Managed by Rhubarb Hospitality Collection, the iconic Royal Albert Hall operation consists of 3 restaurants, 14 bars, 1 retail outlet, 147 hospitality boxes and events for up to 2000 people.
Role Purpose: We are seeking an experienced Head Chef Events to take full ownership of the planning, preparation and delivery of all event catering at the Royal Albert Hall. Working closely with the Culinary Senior Team, Events and Hospitality leadership, you will be responsible for ensuring every event is delivered to the highest possible standard, reflecting the prestige and heritage of the venue. This is a genuinely demanding and high profile operation. The scale of the Royal Albert Hall, the variety of events and the expectation of consistency across large volumes require a senior chef who is calm under pressure, highly organised and confident leading large teams in a fast paced environment. You will play a key role within a multi stakeholder operation, working closely with events, hospitality, procurement, operations and building management to ensure seamless delivery.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading all culinary operations for events at the Royal Albert Hall, including concerts, gala dinners, corporate events, private hires and VIP hospitality.
- Planning, developing and delivering event menus that balance creativity, quality and commercial performance in line with the Royal Albert Hall's standards.
- Managing large scale event preparation and service, ensuring kitchens are fully prepared, correctly staffed and appropriately resourced for each event.
- Leading, scheduling and motivating large kitchen brigades, setting clear standards, managing rotas and supporting training and development.
- Working closely with Events, Hospitality and Operations teams to ensure food offer, service style and delivery align with event requirements.
- Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and health and safety across all event kitchens at all times.
- Ensuring full compliance with allergen legislation, dietary requirements and due diligence documentation.
- Representing the Royal Albert Hall as a senior culinary figure during high profile and VIP events.
What we're looking for:
- You will come from a luxury hotel, major events venue, cultural institution or large scale hospitality operation, operating in a comparable senior events catering role.
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef within large scale event or banqueting operations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate and develop large and diverse kitchen teams.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to maintain control and consistency within complex operations.
- A calm, confident and solutions focused approach in high pressure environments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food safety legislation, allergen compliance, COSHH and health and safety within a professional catering environment.
Good to know: Please note, this role pays £50,000 - 55,000 (inclusive of tronc) DOE and is 100% on site at the Royal Albert Hall.
