A national charity is looking for a retail director to join on an initial six month contract until the end of 2026. The charity has gone through a significant period of change, with a restructuring of its operations and senior leadership team. As a result, this newly created role has been added to the senior management structure.
The charity’s values are bold, impactful, collaborative and equitable, and these values are at the centre of all decisions that are made within the organisation.
The director of retail will oversee all retail operations functions including facilities, licensing, ecommerce, stock and logistics, and the portfolio of shops in the London area. Initially, the primary focus of the role is about creating and setting best practice across the organisation, whilst providing excellent leadership to area managers, shop managers and functional teams. There are plans to embark on a shop opening programme once the basics have been fully implemented across the store estate.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in successfully leading and expanding a retail business, preferably with knowledge of the charity retail sector. You’ll have developed a strong commercial acumen and will have a proven track record of achieving sales targets from a high street or charity retail environment. You’ll have experience leading a large retail team and have exceptional leadership and team management skills. Ideally, you’ll also have knowledge and experience of developing and leading an ecommerce offer. You’ll be a strategic thinker with the ability to drive the retail vision across the organisation through your operational plans.
The salary for the role is £80,000, pro-rata the length of the six month contract. The role offers hybrid working, along with a generous pension and flexible working within core hours of 10am and 4pm. If you are looking for a role where you can truly have an impact in a purpose led, charity business then this could be a great opportunity to do so.
