We are delighted to be partnering with a high-street fashion brand on the lookout for a garment technologist for their women's accessories team. The brand is trend-led that focuses on affordable, accessible style for women’s, men’s and kidswear. The customer is style-conscious but also budget-aware, who shops for everyday pieces, occasionwear and basics. They are renowned to be inclusive, covering ranges for curves/plus size, maternity and petite/tall.
The role of garment technologist will cover a broad range of responsibilities from strategy; understanding the business and how that will impact your department and product, to implementing strategy for the department, to understanding your customer; conducting regular store visits and comp shops and visiting the DC and understanding customer feedback.
The role will also require working closely with the buyers, designers and merchandisers, making sure all quality processes are fed back to drive department strategy and targets. The successful candidate will own and drive the quality management for the department, focusing on quality assurance and the quality framework, ensuring product meets legal requirements, maintains robust quality, maintain brand consistency and promote best practice.
The successful candidate will have experience in accessories, and open to footwear backgrounds if you've touched on accessories. You will be an expert in manufacturing knowledge, product engineering, cost process and have excellent skills to communicate with suppliers/factories, both written and verbal. You enjoy building relationships with other key functions and have been the go-to person for technical advice and support, being a real ambassador and upskilling teams. You will have excellent understanding of fabrics and components.
You will have excellent capabilities compiling clear design briefs outlining measurements and fabric requirements. You will be comfortable with open costings, lead times and supplier capability. Preferably you will have experience travelling to factories in the EU and Far East.
In return the company are offering a salary of up to £48,000 depending on experience. Given the nature of the role, there’s a requirement of four days in the office (non-negotiable). The company is open to someone who would like to work a four-day week, but those fours days must be in the office.
