Managing Director – Senior Appointments, HR, Finance & General Management
A leading multi-product retailer is looking to recruit a general manager to oversee one of its multi-million turnover stores in the southeast. The business ethos is to be customer‑obsessed and every decision it makes is based on offering exceptional customer service standards in its stores. The company has a long history as a people‑centric culture, focusing on employee well‑being and doing what is right for the team. They are focused on internal development, bringing talent through the ranks, and have a track record of developing from within.
The role is a high‑impact, highly commercial position. In addition to leading the team to deliver the highest standards of service and fulfil their potential, you will work closely with the buying team to ensure the right product mix and stock levels. You will have the autonomy to decide on product placement, store layout and stock levels, giving you a level of operational freedom uncommon in most organisations.
Ideal candidates will come from a service‑focused retail environment, demonstrating the ability to lead and motivate a team, and a proven track record of making commercial decisions that drive sales growth. Product knowledge is secondary; strong leadership and customer‑driven trading experience are key.
Compensation & Benefits
Basic salary up to £80,000, plus a potential £15,000 bonus. Benefits include heavily discounted products and discounts across the UK. Typical schedule: one in three weekends, occasional early start or late finish. Core hours are 8am‑6pm.
