Overview
Night Residential Childcare Practitioner roles at Ystradfechan, Treorchy. 18 hrs per week (part time) at Ystrad Fechan Home, Ystrad Fechan, Treorchy, CF42 6HN. This role is part of a caring team that provides a safe, nurturing home for up to five children and young people, led and supported by a Registered Manager and experienced Senior staff.
The successful applicant will be committed to improving the lives of children with complex needs and those who have experienced childhood trauma. You will understand individual past experiences of children and young people and show compassion in how these impact sleep and settling at night. You will work creatively with a high level of active engagement in activities and direct work, and you will be supported to practice in a therapeutic environment using the Trauma Recovery Model of care.
This role involves providing emotional and physical support to empower children and young people to reach their full potential, sometimes in challenging situations where you must respond to issues outside the home. The ability to travel independently is required for this role.
You will be expected to work with families and professionals to ensure care is personalised to meet individual needs, and you should be passionate, patient and committed to those you work with and to professional standards.

Ystradfechan is part of a wider Residential Service for Children, and staff may be required to provide cover and support at other locations to meet service needs.
Qualifications and Registration
You will be expected to hold or be prepared to work towards the QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or predecessor NVQ Level 3 (Children and Young People). You will be registered with Social Care Wales, either on appointment or after completing the Induction Framework.
