The Children and Young People’s Service is looking to recruit a passionate and forward-thinking Play Sufficiency Lead to lead the Play Development Team in RCTCBC. The post holder will be responsible for leading on the Local Authority’s statutory duty to assess play sufficiency and co-ordinate actions to address identified gaps; the development and sustaining of strong multi-agency partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders is integral to this.

The successful candidate will also lead on the commissioning of open access play opportunities, striving to ensure that the play offer is of high quality, as well as consistent across RCT. In line with this, the postholder will also manage the Enhanced Play Service in RCT to ensure children who experience barriers to play receive appropriate support to access meaningful play opportunities.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of play, will be qualified to a minimum of Level 3 nationally recognised Play qualification and have a sound knowledge and understanding of the current legislation regarding the provision of play services.

The working pattern is 37 hours per week Monday-Friday, working to a hybrid model and based at Ty Elai 2 days a week with a combination of home working and attending various community/RCTCBC venues for the remainder. Therefore, flexibility is essential for the successful undertaking of this post.

Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed to the Council. In addition to this safeguarding responsibility, the successful applicant for this role will also be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service check.
