Position Details: Social Worker / Experienced Social Worker (Grade 11 (£42,839) – Entry Social Worker; Grade 12 (£46,142) – Experienced Social Worker). 37 hours per week. Location: Ty Elai Offices, Dinas Isaf Industrial Estate, Williamstown, Tonypandy, CF40 1NY. Team: Enquiry Assessment Team (East Team).

About the Role: Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is pleased to offer a Social Work position within Social Care Services. An opportunity has arisen in our Enquiry and Assessment Team for a Social Worker / Experienced Social Worker. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced, rewarding front line team. The Enquiry and Assessment Team accept case responsibility from strategy discussions under s47 enquiries up until Initial Child Protection Conference. Alternatively, cases can transfer via the IAA Team recommendations of a proportionate assessment. We work in partnership with families and their support networks to reduce and manage risk and need. When our assessments indicate a child and their family require a more medium term intervention, we co‑produce care plans and assist the family through transition to the care and support team.

You can expect regular supervision, access to peer mentoring and consistent reflective session opportunities. All practitioners have the chance to influence the development of our work and are supported by a strong, experienced management team both at strategic and operational levels. We recognise that social work is professionally and personally challenging and demands considerable levels of skill, commitment, and enthusiasm. We offer a dedicated in‑house Learning and Development Centre which actively supports practitioners at each level to maintain their skills and Continuous Professional Development. Our Social Care Departments have benefited from comprehensive and significant investment in recent years, strengthening preventative services to add capacity to the front line. Responsibilities and Qualifications: We expect our practitioners to have a sound understanding of the practice implications of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act and other relevant legislation, be up to date with emerging issues and have experience of or an interest in working within the relevant discipline. Successful candidates will bring strong assessment, communication, and planning skills. You will manage a defined caseload while building and maintaining links with partner agencies. You must possess a professional recognised Social Work qualification and be registered and maintain registration as a 'Social Worker' with Social Care Wales on appointment. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to confirm if they are applying for a Social Worker (GR11) or Experienced Social Worker (GR12) prior to interview. Experienced candidates must provide evidence of registration with Social Care Wales and three years of post‑qualifying experience.
