Social Work Practitioner – Emergency Duty Team (Part‑time)
Salary: £47,754 pro rata (actual £23,877 for 18.5 hours). Permanent part‑time, 18.5 hours a week.
Location
Pontypridd Police Station. Relocation options are being explored and a return to regular office work is possible. A flexible approach will often include working from home.
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Social Work Practitioner to join our Emergency Duty Team on a part‑time basis. The role involves providing an emergency statutory social work response outside standard working hours to vulnerable children and adults. It requires weekend days, evening and night shifts, with flexibility for remote working.
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency statutory social work response outside standard hours.
- Assess risk and make informed decisions in urgent situations.
- Work independently and collaboratively with partner agencies such as Police and health professionals.
- Apply knowledge of the legislative framework for Adults and Children.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with Council and statutory policy.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant Social Work Qualification and registration with Social Care Wales.
- Experience in an emergency or statutory social work setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Approved Mental Health Practitioner Award (AMHP) desirable; willingness to undertake training.
